OpenBuilds® BLOX Specifications

  • Multiple programming options to cater to all skill levels. OpenBuilds BLOX Developer Tools directly supports our own Block based programming tool, as well as Arduino, grblHAL, esphome (Home Assistant) and more.
  • You are also able to use other options as well (Tasmota, CircuitPython, MicroPython, ESP-IDF, FreeRTOS, or NodeMCU LUA etc - any ESP32S3 development environments you are comfortable with) and in time some of these might be more tightly integrated into our own projects portal, but for now you can use them directly from their existing workflows as well.
  • Dedicated RC Servo Port
  • 2x Stepper Drivers with software based current setting, as well as software-based Fault monitoring
  • 2x Limit switch inputs or can also be used for things like inductive sensors, Panel mount switches, Sensors with relay outputs for example beam interrupt security sensors, foot switches, Relays from RF Remote modules, etc.
  • 2x switched mosfet outputs - able to PWM the output at same voltage as input, useful for running DC motors, solenoids, LED strips, etc.
  • 3.3v UART - for talking to Serial devices, other microcontrollers, or even older equipment if you add a TTL>TS232 converter in front of it. Talk to your Solar inverter? etc.
  • USB-C for not only firmware updates, but as its native USB, you can take control of it in firmware and make it act as a USB keyboard, mouse, gamepad, mass storage device, HID device, Serial device, etc.
  • Raw SPI, I2C, Analog and Digital outputs for generic sensors, inputs, and outputs.
  • Generic screw terminals to allow flexible wiring to modules and other components. Arduino-like prototyping or for wiring up permanent sensors.
  • 12-30v supply
  • Barrel terminal and screw terminal power in-out (Can output supply voltage on screw terminals when powered from barrel terminal for example - useful for daisy chaining power to multiple BLOX or other accessories)
  • 2x Onboard WS2812 RGB LEDs for use in your programs as status indicators etc. LED output terminal provided for additional WS2812 based LEDs
  • Onboard MicroSD socket that can be used for data storage, data logging, storing Gcode for use with grblHAL's WEBUI and many other possibilities
  • Onboard Piezo Beeper - can play melodies, notifications, alarms etc
