2.6 Connecting BLOX to Switches

IMPORTANT WARNING: Note: Incorrect wiring can short V+ to GND causing damage to your controller: Double check wiring before powering on.

The LIMITS inputs on BLOX are the ideal terminals to wire up switches. When used with an actuator, one would typically wire your Limit switches to these inputs

These inputs are also the best choice for all other kinds of switches like toggle, push, lever or relay switches. The inputs are opto-isolated and can accept switch signals between 0 and 30v. It also has onboard noise filtering. The filtering and opto-isolation makes these two inputs the ideal choice (if available) for any kind of switched input your project needs. If they are both in use, you can use GPIO for additional switches.

2.6.1 Switch Wiring

BLOX Terminal Device
GND GND
V+ Power Input (Optional, for powered sensors, filtering or LEDs)
SIG NO/NC terminal of switch
Xtension Limit Switches Lever Micro Switches Inductive Sensors Others

2.6.2 Switch Voltage

OpenBuilds BLOX can provide power to your limit switches / panel switches / sensors / etc : Please use the jumpers to configure the voltage your endstops need: 5v (the default) would be suitable for most mechanical and optical switches. 24v would be great for inductive sensors. Check your endstops' datasheets to determine which voltage would suit them better.

These jumpers are located underneath the top cover of the BLOX, remove a screw on one of the sides to remove the top cover

Limit 1's and Limit 2's voltages can each be set to individually as needed:

Set the jumper according to the required voltage for the sensor / limit switches attached:

5V Endstops (Default)

12-30V Endstops (Same as input supply voltage)
